This competition follows a more traditional format and includes multiple rounds (typically three). The same pattern repeats each round, but with a lesser number of competitors, as you must qualify to continue. The pattern is as follow. Participants are given three prompts: a genre, an item, and a situation or an action, and these prompts are locked from the start, so changing them is not an option. Participants must then write their stories in that genre and include the other two prompts as an intrinsic part of the story. Depending on the word count required, the participants will have a couple days to a week to draft their story and submit it. The round ends with the evaluation by writing professionals, who sometimes specialize in the genre requested. All participants receive feedback, even if they didn’t qualify for the next round. Top 10 gets a cash prize.
